Peter Lion was inclined towards writing at a very early age. During his growing up years in Connecticut he was seen dabbling in poetry and also wrote numerous short stories. His talent in this field was further perfected when after enrolling in the Notre Dame High School in Connecticut he started contributing to the students school newspaper.
He got down to create a career of his passion with the words first by acquiring a degree in Journalism through the Southern Connecticut State University. He printed his very first magazine article in the Hartford Magazine before he graduated with his journalism degree.
He ventured to the television business before he had finished his college. A couple of months before graduation, Peter Lion took up employment with WTNH-TV as a part time graphics operator. This television channel was an affiliate with the ABC network and was based out of New Haven. Peter Lion though, didn’t have knowledge of this field snapped up this chance to gain an entry and to create a foothold in the news and television industry.
He mastered the ropes quickly, comprehending the technicalities in the workings of a television network and remained a part of the channel for over a time period of 2 years.
Then he transferred to Boston and started working together with WSBK as a Technical Director. He worked on several projects, his major one being the Boston Red Sox Baseball and Boston Bruins Hockey. However, his wish to be in television and his love for writing pulled him back in his home state as part of a small television station start-up.
He joined this team as a director as well as a technical director for the 10 PM news cast, which was to become the very first within the state. He grabbed this chance of exhibiting his talent and knowledge as with his stint in Boston he has had the opportunity of working with several accomplished directors. He used this understanding to develop the show from scratch.
Peter Lion moved to Pittsburg and joined KADA TV after completing a couple of years with this start-up. In his stint with this television network, he exploited the various facets of his talent and worked as a weather anchor, announcer, news producer, feature producer and director. It was throughout his stint at KADA-TV that Peter Lion found inspiration for his book titled The American St. Nick”.
He then moved back to Connecticut and was a part of ESPN sports network. Still a part of ESPN, he’s responsible for a number of their shows such as Sports Centre and the NFL Draft in his position in the organization as a Director. His main show however, remains, College Gameday.
He has been a 2 time winner of the Emmy awards, although he’s been nominated frequently for his contribution in the television industry. He got his first Emmy for his work with Sports Centre and received his second Emmy for the show NFL countdown.
Besides working, Peter Lion is presently focusing on his 2nd book. He is additionally a part of a band that goes by the name of Cheaper than Therapy” and is also its lead singer and guitarist
